In these unprecedented times, the health and safety of our patients and staff is a top priority. In line with this, we want to communicate the steps we are taking to ensure your health and safety regarding potential Covid-19 exposure.
On Monday evening, June 15th we were informed that one of the employees in the Pediatric Department had tested positive for COVID-19. After learning about this, we implemented key actions on Tuesday, June 16th based on Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to address the situation including:
CDC Recommendations: According to the CDC, close contact means being within six feet of a person with a symptomatic laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 case for a prolonged period of time, generally defined as 15 minutes or more. Individuals who have a known or suspected exposure are recommended to have immediate testing, remain at home until the test results are reported, practice social distancing, and actively monitor for symptoms.
Test Results and Symptom Screening: All test results for staff have been negative. We will have additional tests performed as needed and will continue temperature checks and symptom screening for staff and patients before coming into the department. For our patients, this will include a new screening application available from Johns Hopkins to be used as part of the Epic electronic medical records system.
Resumption of In-Person Visits June 19th: We resumed in-person visits for physicals and select conditions during regular business hours on Friday, June 18th. We will continue to offer telehealth visits for other conditions. The staff will provide guidance based on individual circumstances.
We understand you may have questions or concerns. If so, please contact that the Department Manager, Hannah Bailey at 410-964-6300 or DeWayne Oberlander, CEO at 410-964-6100.
New Electronic Health Record - Patient Portal - Practice Management System
CMP is pleased to announce that we have switched to “Epic” for electronic health records, patient portal, practice management and billing through a licensing arrangement with Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Epic is the largest and top-rated system used in the United States used by Johns Hopkins Medicine, Howard County General, and many other healthcare systems. With this change CMP is continuing in our efforts as an independent practice to improve clinical care and communication with patients, as well as to work more effectively with hospitals and specialists.
What this means for you?
Your Information: We are bringing in as much information as we can from the old system, but will need to ask you to add or verify information during appointment scheduling and at your visit so that we have full information in the system. This will include information about your insurance, address, email address, phone numbers and other essential information.
Visits: We will continue to offer Telehealth Video visits for services that do not require an in-office visit. In-office will be limited to acute/urgent conditions, physicals, and pre-op exams.
Billing: Please note we will be using two systems for billing for the next few months. Visits after June 1 will be billed using the Epic system. Bills for any balances for visits prior to June 1 will be billed in a separate statement. You can continue to pay on-line using a link on the home page at www.cmpractice.com. Call our billing department with any questions.
New Patient Portal: MyChart will replace the Allscripts FollowMyHealth as our portal for use on your PC, tablet, or smartphone for visits after June 1. MyChart has many enhanced features to assist with communication with the practice, access test results, management your appointments, request prescription refills, view information from past visits, and share information with family members on a secure basis. FollowMyHealth will continue to be available for historical records or to communicate with other practices which use it as their portal.
Accessing MyChart: We are in the process of automatically linking CMP patients to MyChart. Until that is complete, you will need to call to make an appointment with your provider to obtain a link for activation. If you do not have a MyChart account, our staff can send you an invitation via a text message or email.
More Information: If you have quesitons, please talk to staff our or contact Administrative Office at 410-964-6100 or email@example.com.
